She Walks in Beauty || Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

I love this poem for so many reasons. In my amateur interpretation of fine pieces of literature I believe Lord Byron compares the beauty of darkness, something we don’t admire as often because of the lack of light and vividness we yearn to feel. We want rainbows and butterflies. We walk to see the colors in the sun rising. We long to feel warmth. When in fact the moon shines as bright guiding us into light. Where love and hope lay as a promise of a good day yet to come.
I understand that. I feel that. I have lived that. It’s what makes me love… love.
Today’s post features a makeup look with the perfect combination of love and a hint of darkness. I enjoyed getting all dolled up and slapping hearts on my face in a sense expressing who I am. Sure on the outside I appear to be tough, but I’m just as fragile and mended from brokeness as the next girl.
This Valentine’s Day is more than just loving Micah, my dear husband. It’s about how Micah allows me to love myself. It’s about how I walk in beauty with every piece of who I was, who I am, and who I’m going to be.
Have a day full of love, happiness, and always remember I’m here for you.
