Off the shoulder

From time to time I enjoy following current trends. Other times I’m okay shopping the sales rack and falling behind fashion must haves for the simple pleasure of being comfortable. However when I saw this gingham top at TJMAXX I simply couldn’t walk away from it. It screams every fashion trend currently being followed. It’s off the shoulder, it’s the “it” pattern, and it’s flowy. Perfect for summer.

The black and white pattern was paired with my favorite pair of black jeans from Forever 21 and this lovely necklace was worn as a good stand out color. Of course it had to be red.

As I struggle to find motivation this summer, I’ve realized that instead of making all these plans (that aren’t going to be accomplished), I’m going to take each day as it comes. This weekend I spent the majority of the time shopping with my mom and helping my dad around the house. It wasn’t planned, but man did it feel good to actually do something with my life. I crave summer break every March, but then at the end of June I can’t wait for August and school to be in full swing. It’s that time my friends.

Until then and as always.

Jump on this

It’s been awhile since I’ve worn this jumper. When I first saw it at Forever 21, I completely, and without thinking got it. Since then I’ve only worn it a handful of times because while it was a great find, it was difficult for me to find different ways to wear this piece.

Today, I decide it to wear a basic white t-shirt underneath it in order to give it a street style vibe. It was perfect for running errands. I also paired it with my day 1 sandals from the Buckle. I got these baby’s way back in the day. I’ve taken such good care of them that to this day, they still keep me satisfied.

In contrast, I wore these bright coral ear rings from the Buckle in order to add variation. This color addition added a unique pop to this outfit. I rather enjoy when colors make a surprise good mix.

What do you think of this color combination? Happy Tuesday, as always.

For the plane

2

I write this post from the beautiful and very hill filled, San Francisco. I’m very excited to share with you all my journey, but before I post pictures of my trip, I’d like to share with you all my airport attire.

So I was in a world of shock when my best friend, the reason I’m visiting California, told me that it indeed wasn’t going to be sunny. To my disdain, I had to repack and I filled my closet with warm sweaters and booties.

This is what I wore to the airport, comfy bottoms and a very warm and thick sweater. It was the perfect combination of comfort and edge. Of course I couldn’t leave Kansas without my favorite boots from Steve Madden.

Please stay tune as I continue to post about my Spring Break vacation. Be patient. I’m here to fun. I’ll share the fun, later.

Change it up

It’s important for me to wear my clothes out in such a way that yes, I’ll be repeating daily. You’ve seen the boyfriend jeans and this top on here before, so don’t wear tired. Just hang on. Remember that I love my clothes very much. You’ll see them on here more than enough times. I hope though that every time I wear certain staples that it will be in a different way. For example, today I wore my velvet top with the boyfriend jeans. I’ve never paired the two together because I felt like the top was too delicate the roughness of these jeans. However, the pair radiate cool girl, and let’s face it; I’m cool! To continue to add to the street stylish attitude I wore my boots from Steve Madden. They are one of my favorites.

I hope you enjoy today’s look, I managed to take these before the wind broke out, it’s a tornado out there. As always.

Green for life

3

I know it’s a little late, but I wanted to share this post before the day is officially over.

This week has been a little rough, at our district we lost two middle school students. It was tough on everyone, but today I told my students that they needed to live a life that was fruitful, because they each had a purpose so special and unique it would be a shame not see it through. I’d do anything for my students, in fact, I told them I’d fight any fight for them. Honestly why wouldn’t I? They are my well being, my everyday, my tomorrow.

Since yesterday I wore a touch of green, I decided that today, I would promote life by wearing green. It was such a beautiful day, despite the tragedies. However, this green dress made me feel full of life, warmth, and it gave me vibrant vibes. I styled this outfit with a black sweater and combat boots, you know to fight on through. The cutout in the back is my favorite thing about this dress. It’s fun.

Today if it’s in your heart, pray for the families of these two students, they lost their lives in different ways for different reasons. However the pain they left behind is equally damaging.

Think of their families during this time. As always.

Plaid

1

Today I wore this plaid shirt. At first glance it doesn’t seem that special, specific, darling, eye-opening, but it’s comfortable, versatile, gentle, and homey.

Those are the pieces that I love the most. The ones I can wear time-and-time again. I’d love to say that my closet is full of mystery- fashion-forward pieces, but I’m just a regular Kansas girl showcasing what I’ve got to work with and that my friends is a plain.

An occasionally some fitted jeans and flats.

It’s a triple-threat you can’t ignore.

What’s your most comfortable piece of clothing? As always.

Coatful

1

I’ve about had it with wearing a coat or sweater. I’m full of it! But I’ll have to be patient since February and parts of March will still be cold. Yay. Eye roll.

I got out of work early today because there was a major water line break at the school so students were dismissed at 11:05 a.m., they were thrilled of course. So was I, but not as much as the students since there is so much to do.

After the dismissal, I jetted home to change into something much more comfortable in order to run some much needed errands. I had a bunch of things piled up that need some attention. For this, I wore my olive green jeans, a simple white tee, blocked heels, and my new coat. The coat was a Christmas gift from my parents. I had been dying for a coat that was longer than mid-length. After months of searching, we found the perfect one at Dillards.

School will resume back up tomorrow and I’m excited to see the look at my student’s face back in the classroom.
