I’ve spent the majority of the day browsing through my blog. It really came to my surprise how much I’ve changed. Not in a major way. Not in the way that I feel I’m a different person entirely. But in the way this blog has evolved. It’s been such a learning experience getting to see how much my style has changed. This blog has continued to be a place where I can express who I am through my clothes. Some of my posts have been so ridiculous and I’ve worn some questionable items, but it’s nothing I regret. A major thing that I’ve notice is that I feel more confident, secure, and even adventurous in how I dress and express myself. Even how I pose has improved. There are still so many things I want to do with this blog and I’m really excited to see where it goes and what I learn. I love to write. I love photography. I love clothes. So for now, I’ll enjoy everything this blog to offer me. An escape.
Now as I was looking around, I came to discover some pieces that I’ve worn on here multiple times and I thought I’d share how I repeat them. It’s been awhile since I’ve done this series. The main thing with my clothes is that I only buy items I know I’m going to wear more than three times. Check out these two items and how I’ve styled them. Which is your favorite?
My long plaid shirt from Forever 21. I wore it in the winter time underneath my favorite leather jacket for a cool girl vibe. That’s how I ultimately feel about this shirt. Cool. Just recently I showed it off a bit more by wearing nothing but it around town. Again, I felt cool.
This is my favorite jumpsuit because the color is so neat. The first time I wore this green jumpsuit from Forever 21 was in the fall. I paired it with booties and my fuzzy jacket. Lately I layered it with a white t-shirt and sandals for an every-day-look. It’s just everything. I can’t wait to wear this thing again.
I’ve got a weekend packed of cleaning and organizing before Micah and I head out to Mexico for our mission trip. We are both really excited about it. I can’t wait to share with you all how I’m packing. Stay tune. Have a good week. I’ll see you all on Monday again. As always.
It’s been awhile since I’ve worn this jumper. When I first saw it at Forever 21, I completely, and without thinking got it. Since then I’ve only worn it a handful of times because while it was a great find, it was difficult for me to find different ways to wear this piece.
Today, I decide it to wear a basic white t-shirt underneath it in order to give it a street style vibe. It was perfect for running errands. I also paired it with my day 1 sandals from the Buckle. I got these baby’s way back in the day. I’ve taken such good care of them that to this day, they still keep me satisfied.
In contrast, I wore these bright coral ear rings from the Buckle in order to add variation. This color addition added a unique pop to this outfit. I rather enjoy when colors make a surprise good mix.
What do you think of this color combination? Happy Tuesday, as always.
Today is a special day for me spiritually, but also culturally. It’s the day we celebrate our Blessed Mother, Virgin Mary.
In the Latin American culture, Mary appeared to San Juan Diego. For those of you who don’t know the story, San Juan Diego, a humble native Indian carried out what the virgin specified. And so, Mexico converted to Christianity when the first church was built in 1531 in Tepeyac. This part of history is important, as I celebrate this daily while I try to live in a pleasing way for my God.
Now something significant that I acknowledge about the Virgin Mary and San Juan Diego is that they were both obedient and said yes. Mary said yes to God and hence our Savior was born. San Juan Diego said yes and hence I’m able to know and practice my faith.
I suppose the lesson in all of this is to say yes!
Today, I’m reminded a lot about culture. I’m proud of roots. When I saw this traditional piece, typical of the state of Veracruz, Mexico, I had to have it. Why, because it reminds me of my ancestors, my family, my culture, and my motherland. I’m proud to be American, but I’m even more proud to be Mexican-American.
That’s why, this piece of clothing has been repeated Always and Again. It’s a favorite and from this post, I hope you can see why.
It’s been so cold lately.
While, the crisp mornings send chills down my spine, it’s not cold enough to sport a coat. So it brings me to think fondly of my fuzzy sweater. I wear this thing so much, it’s tan instead of winter white. But, I don’t care, because this sweater is so thick and warm –the cold doesn’t stand a chance–
I’m starting a series of items I repeat and wear always and yet again. I thought it would be appropriate to consider this sweater in that category and honor it with appearing first since I wear it more than I should. Again, I don’t care.
While I was browsing through the archives, I noticed that I only wear this sweater with dresses. This could possibly be because it’s so warm, comfortable, and cool, the rest of the body can be spared. Ha.
On a side note, I’m really excited to begin series blogging. I want to be able to share with everything that’s in my head whether it’s genius or simply bleh. So just give me a chance.
Sweater from the Buckle
Yesterday I talked about how much fun I had shopping for everyone’s gift, including me. Apart from yesterday’s sweater, I also picked up this green one. It truly is sweater weather around here, well for now, because next week we are expected to receive a bunch of snow, and ice, and wind. Lovely. Until then I think I’ll skip around wearing short skirts and no jacket.
*It’s been a long time since I’ve worn this skirt and it was really hard for me iron it. So, if anyone has any tips, please share.
